Meet the founder
I'm María Moro, jewellery and travel have always been deeply connected for me, both are ways of collecting stories from cultures.
It was in Sri Lanka, surrounded by dazzling, ethically sourced gemstones, that I discovered a deeper kind of beauty, one rooted in origin, earth, and meaning.
From the moment I set foot on the island, I began collaborating with artisanal workshops that share this vision.
I trained in gemology and began working closely with family-run miners and gem dealers committed to traceability, fairness and conscious practices.
Before creating OONA, I spent over a decade in luxury and fashion & lifestyle editorial. Today, I bring that refined vision to a slower, more conscious kind of beauty: jewellery with purpouse.
“I personally handpick each gemstone for its character, and the way its light speaks to me. Stones are not chosen, they choose you.
Every precious stone for our creations is selected with care, ensuring its origin and its natural, unaltered color. That intimate connection is what gives every jewel its own presence"
Building a bridge between two worlds
from Sri Lanka to Madrid and beyond
In Sri Lanka, inspiration becomes form. It is where ideas take shape through touch, time, and dialogue with master artisans, as each piece of jewellery is brought to life in an intimate and deliberate process.
Madrid, where our studio is based, moves at a different rhythm. Its cultural pulse and social energy create the space where I meet, listen to, and converse with those who wear our creations. Both places are home. Together, they form the emotional and creative landscape that defines OONA.
